Sorry, the Fezzy men wont be out on this one, but good luck to all, and have a good run.

Good luck Bro' - great to see you make a come back & proud to have you & Doug (co-driving) flying the MDMC Flag as new Mid-Derbyshire MC members. Seeded Car 15, 1st 1600 - an excellent opportunity to keep an eye on the 'power-game' boys ahead of you in their exotic 4x4 toys!

Really, really wish I could come out & watch you but I've got to spend the whole blinking day on Drystone Route plot & schedules so 120 other people can have some fun in less than 3 weeks!

Because Jim & the Team put on such a well-received job at Twford with our Turbo Centre Stage Rally in April, the Phoenix has over 70 entries!

Missing you already!

All the best to the rest of our MDMC Boys too

Performance Update after 3 Stages:

SS1: Ethel (doesn't your car have a name?) broke a 'drive shaft' on the start line. Sidney (doesn't your driver have a name?!) drove stage with 1 wheel drive
Replaced inner CV at service ready for next stage

SS2: Ignition lead came unclipped off coil pack. Drove stage with misfire
Replaced faulty coil pack at service

SS3: First 'clean' run BUT had to stop on stage & wait for dust to clear.
Must surely be considered an improvement! :?

Next update 1455

Latest developments ...

SS4:  He's rolled it  ... no, no, sorry, only kidding - but I made you sit up 'listen' hey. Fairysnuff, not a nice thing to 'diss' your Brother. Sorry.

Ok, Sidders (don't you have a backup name for your driver too?!) had a reasonably clean run, passing 2 cars on the stage. Just don't talk to him about dust!  In fact it's so bad, EDMC curtailed SS4, dropping the 2nd 'split' & effectively halving the length of the stage.

Have actually spoken to our man with the roundy-round thing in his hands on the Hot-line. He says he's been up since 4am and's very tired & ready for some kip! Good news tho', Ethel's behaving herself, putting her 190 (or so) horses from just 1600cc's to good use thro' Yokohama slicks.

Apparently, Doug Gardiner is thoroughly enjoying being chauffeured round in the Hot Seat! And I've just been informed Simon had a spin on SS3 - well, not so good after all hey, letting the Chapman reputation down so early on!

Sounds like a protracted event - only one stage run in the last 2½ hrs!

Quick quote from the Matt & Chris in the Service Barge: "Help, we're running low on ice cold Stella's. Might have resort to pinching some of the Crew's chilled Red Bull when they're on stage!"

Over

Next update 1700 (if you can force yourself to tune in!)

Btw, soz for delayed post - having difficulty with the 'steep down hill 90R into 90L & immediate slot hairpin R' on the Drystone route plot!!

Not much to report ...

Just started SS7

SS 5 & 6 apparently went smoothly, clawing back from 57th o/a after SS1 to 27th. Now looks like a top 20 may be possible.

Only other news (from the Sv Crew) is that Ethel saw 6th gear on SS6 ... & that Simon had about an hours sleep at halfway!!

Over

Can't promise another report til much later

... and Finally

SS7 & SS8: Sounds like both man & machine had the bit between their teeth!
4th fastest on stage 7 & 5th quickest on 8 - that's more like it :)
However, the dust was such a problem, the stages were slashed to just one 'lap'.

So, after a 10 year 'subbatical', all things considered, 15th o/a and 3rd in class is a pretty descent result.

Well done Bro'.

I'm really sorry I've not been able to 'commentate' on Lee Ryan & Paul Webster (MKII Escort), Ingo Jahn & Rich Holdsworth (BMW 320iS), Nigel Hunt (& Dave Quinney) - Pug 309 ... and Andy Smith & Ben Amis in their Mini. Hope you chaps had a great day. Look forward to reading how you went on on this 'thread'

Over & out!

Soz your reporter is so late replying - should that be 'early' - I've just finished 'this mornings' Drystone work! Only 19 nights to go

Nige & Dave (Car 56) Ended up 36th O/ALL. Quite eventful, managed to stall on the start line on the first stage ! (not used to the new lightened flywheel !!!!) 2nd stage punctured nearside front within 50 yards of start line, but at least didn't stall this time, so had to nurse round for 2 laps (bugger) 3rd stage got very familiar with reverse gear ! 4th stage half spin and visited scenery, reverse gear again coming in useful ! The afternoons stages a bit better, no real drama's except catching some nobhead in a sapphire (twice) who was reluctant to let us pass (we did eventually after eating dust....)
Car not set up for the 'rough' but we had a laugh and will fight another day.....
